How do I get the quiet ones to speak up in meetings? Well, let's first talk about what not to do. If you have people on your team who are introverted, quiet, shy, the worst thing you can do is call attention to them in a meeting by saying, Hey, what do you think? . You need to work on strategies that allow them to participate without having to speak in front of a group.

Some of the techniques that we use are liberating structures, voting polls, different online collaborative tools, where people can be anonymous until such time as they feel comfortable enough to speak up. And in most cases, if you make the environment welcoming, they will eventually feel comfortable enough to participate.

But again, do not put a target on their head by calling them out directly. If they already feel uncomfortable.
